HARMONY IN MOTION: WES’ MOTO GUZZI V7 III RACER

From searching New England maps to finding hidden forest lakes—how Wes transformed his 2020 Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer into the ultimate instrument for dirt roads and solitary escape.

There is a distinct art to riding backroads, where human engineering meets the unpolished contours of nature. For New England-based musician Wes, finding his 2020 Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer was the result of a patient, year-long search.

„Motorcycle culture for me is about experiencing the beauty that nature and human made things make when they come together.“

Stripping away unnecessary trim, Wes removed the stock leather tank strap, fitted a solo seat, added custom side covers, and rewired a clean rear mudguard and taillight setup. Keeping only the auxiliary fog lights from the previous owner, he created a machine stripped of excess fluff and tuned for long country winding roads, gravel tracks, and quiet lakefronts. For Wes, two wheels are more than simple transportation: they represent the pure alignment of focus, freedom, and landscape.

IN CONVERSATION WITH Nozomi

RWN MOTOZINE: Who are you, where are you based, and what do you do when you’re not out riding or in the garage?

Wes: My name is Wes. I’m located in the New England region of the US. If I’m not out riding I’m either making music or scouring maps to find new places to ride to.

RWN MOTOZINE: What is the exact make, model, and year of the bike, and how did you get your hands on it?

Wes: This is a 2020 Moto Guzzi V7 III Racer. I spent about a year looking online in my area for the right Moto Guzzi and when this surfaced I pounced on it.

RWN MOTOZINE: What have you modified, restored, or tailored on the bike? Was there a specific challenge along the way?

Wes: There were some mods done to it before I got it. The only one of these I kept are the fog lights, which I think adds some character. I removed the brown leather bench seat and opted for a single. Replaced the side covers, and wired in a new mudguard/taillight. I also removed the leather tank strap that came on it.

RWN MOTOZINE: Is there a specific memory, road trip, or moment with this bike that stands out to you?

Wes: Every ride on this bike is its own unique experience and memory. I really enjoy taking it down dirt roads and through the woods to find hidden lakes and ponds. I avoid cities at all costs and opt for the long winding country roads.

RWN MOTOZINE: What does motorcycle culture mean to you? Feel free to share anything else you’d like our readers to know.

Wes: Motorcycle culture for me is about experiencing the beauty that nature and human made things make when they come together- like looking ahead and seeing the curve of the road and how it winds through the landscape and fits perfectly. There’s nothing else in this world that can make me feel so free, focused, content, happy, excited, and motivated all at the same time. See you on the road!

RWN MOTOZINE: Wes, thank you for the craft, the time, and for keeping the raw spirit of the culture alive.
